James spent most of his childhood in theatres – until he decided to focus his attention and his skills into film. This led him to shoot his very first short “The apology line” which gained critical acclaim, numerous best film awards, a European Film Academy award nomination and official selection at over 50 festivals worldwide including Sundance.
His next two shorts received both an award – “Pockets” was even listed on UK Channel 4’s top ten short documentaries ever made – after which he signed with the prestigious Warp Films.
This soon led him to be represented in the USA with Doomsday Entertainment, and to direct music videos for some of the world’s biggest and most respected artists – including OneRepublic, Justin Bieber, Lil Dicky, and Bloc Party. In advertising, James has helmed extensive commercial campaigns for respected brands such as Beats by Dre, Converse, BBC or Bacardi Rum and is a regular contributor to the fashion, art and culture online platform Nowness. Ending, James’ latest short film funded by Creative Scotland and Creative England is being released in 2017 as James develops his first feature for production.
